2010 Year of Medicine

Wow, getting old really sucks. Finished my colonoscopy this morning. Looks like we do it again in 3 instead of 10. Saw my eye doc to get new glasses and he said, I should see the eye surgeons to have my cataracts removed. I had been told they would not need to come out for some time. I think I agree with my eye doc as my vision is really slipping. So, I am waiting on the consult with the hopes we can get the eyes done this year, and sooner the better. I will hope to complete my dental work with an implant and crown before Fall. And the topper for 2010 is, I hit the 60 mark. I am really old and I don't want to be.

Made It

Well, the Christmas crush is concluded. We dressed the tree and house, fed the family, opened gifts, and ate at our neighbors home. Soon, all the dressing will come down and a new year will be upon us. Can we "HOPE FOR REAL CHANGE?" One other great thing this season, BYU actually beat someone in a football bowl game. GO COUGARS.
In spite of the crush of people in the house, things went pretty well. Thanks to all who provided food, gifts, and good company. Wishing you all a great New Year. May it be filled with love, prosperity, and good health.

Well a Day to write something about, I suppose.

Well, this is the last year for me to be considered in mid-life. Turning 59 today is really just another day, though it was made especially special by getting a birthday card from DeAnne and family, and on time no less. Way to go DeAnne.
I don't expect anything earth shattering to happen today. We are still deeply under gray and wet skies, and the only really good thing to do is read, which I have been doing with some vigor. I am working on the Iris Johansen series. I have finished her Eve Duncan novels except her newest, which is still to come. So, I have started on the other novels that our library has. She is a good read unless you get turned off by overly sexually charged women. Her leads are all women who are strong mentally, intellectually, hyper sexual, and vulnerable. I suppose the latter allows for the male support to come through.
I usally do house cleaning on Saturdays, but I may put it off. Yuk. Well off to read.

Slacker

Well, as you can see, I have been less than diligent in keeping up the blog. Things that have happened since I last wrote include the following: A trip to Mazatlan, Mexico with friends John and Barb. Barb used to work with Brandi at the law firm. Delivered a chest and dresser to Deanne and family, and met her friend Molly. From there went up to Spokane to visit with Jenny, Jared, Brit, Tammy, and grand children Ethan, Braeden, and Alura. We also had a walkway put in at the new house, well THE house now, a tool shed on the side of the house, and changed out all the main lights in the house. Had a potluck dinner with several of our neighbors and ate great food. A few nights before that, I had a visit from the EMTs. Wasn't as bad as it seemed at the moment. Best guess was dehydration. Did not pass out or do a header, i.e. like Brandi has done three times. I am also being fitted with a dental appliance to straighten a tooth to make room for a implant. Doc says it I lost the leaning tooth, I would have no chewing on the side. What's 4K, right? Worst thing is since coming back from Mazatlan, I have been coughing nonstop. No fever or flu anything, so chill, and I have not kissed any pigs. Oh, I finished two Stephen White novels in Mexico and two since coming back, which means I have read his entire body of work accept his newest that comes out in August. Now working on Jeffery Archer until my favs get their new books out that come out through the next few months. Oh yeah, I also finished the new book by Harlan Coben, and Ridley Pearson. Heck, there might be other, but I don't have the list in front of me.

Back From Cabo

We had a very relaxing time at Cabo. The temps were in the 90s. We saw whales and ate good food. One item we both fancied very much was their Shrimpcoctail. Probably the best we have ever eaten. We had it for lunch 5/7 days. I finished a book by F. Paul Wilson, The Keep, and stayed tuned in with Fox.
Brandi walked the beach, read, started her puzzle, but was unable to finish it due to starting it too late. We did not have a space large enough to fit it on, except the floor, which is where she put it, but by then, she was unable to complete it.
We did a dinner cruise that was very nice. We saw whales, had really good food, and an excellent floor show. The cruise was on her birthday, March 2ND.
Sunset Beach Resort is a very nice resort, but we have determined it is way too big for our liking. Walking is not easy as once you go down, you must return up, which is not an easy task. We will likely go to other resorts in our future trips.
I will post pictures of our trip on my facebook.

Strange

I found the stuff. Beats me. We are a one home family as of the 13th. It feels very good and in March we will get a pay raise of sorts. We are now fighting the stuff wars. We may never park a car in the garage again. She could fill a dumpster with useless junk. Please.

What Happened

Wow!!!! What happened to my blog? Everything is gone. Guess I messed up when I changed the background. Oh well.

Projects

Last week we moved some items up to MV including a couch, chair, dinning room set, and more boxes. This weekend, we moved up the sofa table and coffee table. This little task blew my back out, so my mission on Monday is to secure a moving company to take the remaining items to the north. We also did some little projects. We went shopping for items for the kitchen, which included racks for the cabinets to facilitate stacking items and dividers for the kitchen drawers. We also got some belt racks for the bedroom closet, as Brandi and I have lots of bets. We also put a rack in the down stairs coat closet to put scarves and hats on. In the master bath, we hung a medicine cabinet. I also hung the ironing board/iron holder up in the utility room, a shelf in garage for the radio, and rehung the tool bar. All of these were done without one curse word, which means they got done without a problem. We also purchased an over the door clothes hanger for the master bath, which did not require technical skills, Whew!
All in all, it was not a bad weekend, though we did not get to see our MV friends other than those at church. Oh, we have also begun to change addresses to bunch of places and interests. What a pain.

Moving to Mount Vernon

Well, I have started to move things up to the new house. The formal living room is now together with the exception of moving the grandfather clock up and I think getting a small coffee table. Hey, is there another name for that table? Also, the dinning room is done, and we have moved up the two over stuffed chairs and ottomans. We think we will wait until the 6th of February when we will rent a U-haul to get the rest of the items. There is not that much to get up there.
We got snow last night. Did anyone else get snow?

An Offer and Inspection

We have finally received a fair offer on the Hansville house. It really is quite fair. The inspection was done today and we will receive our to do list by Friday. In the interim, Brandi and I will be moving items to the MV house, those things we do not need to have to maintain life over the next 30 days. If all goes well, we will close on 13 February, and then Brandi and I will have a much different trip to Cabo San Lucas at the end of the month.
